More about Falcons
Falcons are birds of prey that have long pointed wings and are characterized by their swift, fast and strong flight. There are nearly 37 species of falcons which are spread in areas of Europe, Asia and North America. They usually nest in holes in trees or on natural shelves on cliffs.
Kestrels
Kestrels are distinctive looking, small and stocky falcons that have bright feathers. They are (13 to 15 inches) long and have a 66 to 81 centimeters (26 to 32 inches) wingspan. Males are more beautiful than females with a chestnut brown black and bluish-gray head and wings. However, female kestrels are larger than males. Kestrels feed on insects, small mammals, rodents and birds.
Peregrine
Peregrine are among the world's most common birds of prey. They are found on all continents expect Antarctica. They are powerful and fast- flying falcons that hunt medium-sized birds. Peregrines prefer open spaces such as mountain meadows and coasts but are also found living on bridges and skyscrapers.
